“Beyond the Individual: How Tap Telehealth Is Making Our Community Healthier and Stronger”
I want to talk about something bigger than just individual care – I want to talk about community. Tap Telehealth was not created in a vacuum, but we built it with the goal to better our community, and to provide a comprehensive way to help everyone in our community have access to the care that they deserve.
Beyond Individual Care: The Community Perspective
You see, while we are proud of the work we do to help our patients individually, we also know that strong communities are build with strong families. We realize that Tap Telehealth is so much more than just a way for one person to get medical advice. When we have a healthy community, we all benefit. We believe that when we are helping individuals, we are also building a better and healthier community.
Reduced 911 Calls and the Burden on the ER
Let’s be honest, the overuse of 911 for non-emergencies is a problem in every community. In the ER I have seen countless times when a patient has called an ambulance, because they simply do not have any other options for medical care. You see, in many communities there are not a lot of resources available to all members of the community, and so the default answer is to call the ambulance, even for simple issues, and that can take ambulances and paramedics away from the truly devastating emergency cases. When we’re providing accessible care, we’re also helping to free up those critical resources for true emergencies. Tap Telehealth reduces ambulance calls for those non-emergency issues, and that benefits us all.
Improved School Attendance: Supporting Our Students
We know how important it is for kids to be in school, ready to learn and engage. The problem is that if a child is sick, they are often sent home, and to go back to school they often need to be seen by a doctor to say that they are no longer contagious. Because Tap Telehealth can provide such quick access to care, we’re able to get kids back in class sooner. In fact, we typically get kids back in school around 4 days faster by avoiding those long wait times with your primary care physicians. And you know, in many states like Texas, that can make a difference as schools receive funding based on weighted daily average attendance which is equivalent to $25 per day. That small amount of money multiplied over a community really starts to make a difference!
Also, for a lot of families that means a parent does not have to miss work, and often when a parent cant miss work a child is left at home alone. This is obviously not a great situation and creates behavioral problems for kids at home alone when they should be learning in school. We help keep kids in school and parents at work, which benefits everyone!
Supporting Local Businesses and Employees
When a family gets help it also creates a positive ripple effect in the community as well. If a local restaurant has a wait staff or a cook out sick, they might not have any way to take care of their health, and many local businesses cant afford to provide health insurance for all of their employees, this means that these people go without the care that they need, and they often have to miss time from work. With Tap Telehealth’s low cost monthly subscription, it’s now easier for small businesses to take care of their employees, allowing them to stay healthy and get back to work quickly. Healthy employees make for healthy businesses!
Strengthening the Existing Healthcare Infrastructure
We also don’t want to come in and compete with the other valuable services that are already in place. We want to connect people to the resources in the local community. We know that there are some people that really need a brick and mortar health clinic. So instead of competing, we work with the local community doctors, FQHC, non-profit clinics and other services, so that we can be a gateway to those services and ensure that our clients get the best care for their situation. We want to support and strengthen our community health system and make sure it is strong and available for all.
Affordable Care = A Stronger Community
And the other great part is, that when we lower the cost of healthcare with our low monthly subscription, we allow the residents to have more money to spend elsewhere in the community. We are not just keeping you healthier but we are also stimulating the local economy and helping you thrive. When you’re saving on medical costs you have more for local restaurants, shops, or even that occasional night out! We want our communities to thrive, and a strong community has healthy residents!
Beyond the Individual: Investing in Our Shared Future
When a community thrives, we all thrive! By making quality care more accessible, we’re not only improving the lives of individuals and families, we’re strengthening the very fabric of our community. It’s about building a healthier, more resilient, and more prosperous place for all.
